King's Head Theatre wins London Healthy Workplace Award

The King’s Head Theatre has been accredited by the Mayor of London's Office for outstanding dedication to the health and wellbeing of its staff.

On Monday 18th November, the King’s Head Theatre was announced as a 2019 recipient of the London Healthy Workplace Award by the Mayor of London’s Office. The award recognises businesses in London that show outstanding dedication to the health and wellbeing of their staff. The King’s Head Theatre was one of 64 organisations across the capital to be recognised in this way and the only professional producing theatre.

Fiona English, Executive Director commented ‘The King’s Head Theatre has always been an industry leader for ethical and sustainable working practices on the fringe so it’s wonderful to be recognised by this award. As an organisation, we’re committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our staff, believing that to create artistic excellence on stage, you need to ensure excellent working conditions off stage.’

The London Healthy Workplace Award is an accreditation scheme led by the Mayor of London's Office and supported by Public Health England. It acts as a template for good practice and recognises London employers which invest in their employee’s health and wellbeing. The scheme supports organisations of all sizes across public, private and voluntary sectors. The award helps organisations address some of the biggest challenges businesses face, including recruitment and staff retention, sickness absence and employee productivity. Organisations are encouraged to develop wellbeing programmes across a wide range of areas, including support for mental health and wellbeing, smoking, alcohol and substance misuse, improving physical activity and promoting healthy eating.
