Queer Season 2019
Tuesday 23 July - Saturday 24 August
The King’s Head Theatre’s Queer Season is a celebration of the most interesting and innovative LGBTQI+ theatre makers in Britain. This year, we’re looking for up to ten pieces to play for one week as part of our late night programme or for two nights as part of our sessions programme alongside our headline production.
If you’ve got a piece that you think we should take a look at, we want to hear from you. Click the link below to fill in our application form before Sunday 17th March at 6.00pm.
The Queer Season runs from Tuesday 23 July until Saturday 24 August over five weeks.
The headline production will be Southern Belles by Tennessee Williams, consisting of the only two pieces written by the playwright to feature openly gay and lesbian characters.
The headline production has design priority. We are looking for work for the season that can be staged without a full set. Details of the design for Southern Belles will be shared with other companies in advance.
The King’s Head Theatre is curating the Queer Season, but will only be producing Southern Belles. We are looking for work with a producer or company attached rather than script submissions.
We are unable to offer box office splits. There will be a rent guarantee required after which 100% of the net box office will go to the visiting producer or company. Rates and details will be discussed in advance of signing of a contract.
The Queer Season will be announced publicly in April 2019.
