Tell us a bit about your job at the King’s Head Theatre?
I am a Trainee Production Assistant. My role is to assist the producing and marketing team. At the moment, I am learning new skills in working within an theatre office, as well as undergoing daily tasks such as proof-reading, archiving, finding reviews and tending to the theatre’s social media account.
What’s the best piece of theatre you’ve ever seen?
Lovesong at the Lyric Hammersmith. It shows two sets of the same couple in the early and late years of their relationship. The text was absolutely moving and Frantic Assembly choreographed the actor’s movement. I literally was in tears throughout the entire performance! I also enjoyed The Barbershop Chronicles at the National Theatre due to its impeccable representation of African culture. I’m completely torn between those two pieces of theatre!
In an alternate universe, what would your ideal job be?
A video game developer. I’m an avid gamer in my free time. The Final Fantasy series is a guilty pleasure for me as I love games with an in-depth narrative.
The King’s Head Theatre has a stupendous ice cream selection… what’s your favourite flavour?
Matcha ice cream. So refreshing!
Why does theatre matter?
To me, theatre is about presenting a culture, an idea or an emotion on stage to shape or change a person or society. I believe that it matters and is relevant now more than ever; arts funding is being cut and social movements such as MeToo and Time’sUp and the acknowledgement of female playwrights and directors. I very much would love to be part of that movement and I feel that the King’s Head is the right place for me to be.
