Tell us a bit about your job at the King’s Head Theatre?
My job as Assistant Theatre Manager requires both organisational and technical skills, as well as looking after the visiting companies, performers and FOH teams. I am responsible for assisting the Theatre Manager in the day-to-day equipment maintenance and the general Health and Safety of the venue.
What’s the best piece of theatre you’ve ever seen?
A theatre piece I really enjoyed was Henry IV at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford Upon-Avon (2014). The production was brilliant and the extravagant set told the story on its own. The acting and fight scenes were extremely impressive and the overall atmosphere depicted the early 1400s perfectly.
In an alternate universe, what would your ideal job be?
I would love to be a biomedical engineer and help people with physical disabilities gain their abilities again, through prosthetics and chemical prosthetic tissue!!
The King’s Head Theatre has a stupendous ice cream selection… what’s your favourite flavour?
Why does theatre matter?
Theatre matters because it is not just entertainment, it is educational and multicultural. It is a social and professional circle in which people interact with and learn about each other, and experience new cultures and societies. Theatre is also a form of communication and self-awareness, as well as a means of boosting self-confidence and delivering socio-political messages through art.
