April 26, 2019

How long have you been working at the King's Head Theatre and what is your job title?

I started at the King’s Head Theatre as Assistant Theatre Manager in Jan 2018 and successfully applied to be Theatre Manager in Nov 2018.

What does a Theatre Manager do on a day to day basis?

The role covers a vast variety of functions from overseeing the technical staffing to the technical requirements of the visiting shows, liaising with the pub who are our landlord on buildings maintenance, and generally advising on H&S requirements for the business.

Why did you decide to apply for a job at the King's Head Theatre?

It’s a venue that I regularly attended as an audience member before working here. I then brought my own production to the theatre in Dec 2016 and haven’t left since. I really like the range of programming that the theatre attracts and programs

What is your favourite part of the job?

Being able to help people who are so passionate about their production and seeing success in their productions. Working with such an excellent team who are so good at what they do! Also, having “Tickets” the theatre dog in the office.

What is one thing that you have learnt from your role?

It’s amazing what can be achieved in a short period of time with detailed planning.

What has been your favourite show so far from your time at the King's Head Theatre?

Apart from my own shows (ha!) - UNDETECTABLE which received 4 and 5 Star Reviews.

And finally, have you tried all 11 flavours of ice cream that the King's Head Theatre sells?

Not all but working my way through them. Salted Caramel is my favourite so far!
